      Entrevista de Junior Software Developer

      19 dic 2019
      Candidato de entrevista anónimo
      Ciudad de North Vancouver, BC
      Sin oferta
      Experiencia negativa

      Solicitud

Solicité el puesto a través de un captador. El proceso duró 5 días. Acudí a una entrevista en IBS Paper Performance Group (Ciudad de North Vancouver, BC)

      Entrevista

I had an interview for a position with Papertech in North Vancouver, BC Canada, a company that is part of the IBS Paper Performance Group (as I was told during interview). At the time I was already working multiple contracts but was exploring opportunities. I went to the interview more for the sake of the experience, and to see what the environment at Papertech is like. In the aftermath of the interview, I would not have gone with them even if they offered a position and quite frankly should have walked out of the interview. First interview was a phone interview in which one of the interviewers at Papertech, asked specific technical questions (about multi-threading in C#). I am skeptical about their methods of determining what their candidate knows, especially about asking such questions over the phone. Second interview as an on-site interview with two representatives from Papertech, which was not a good experience. The vibe was not that of being received as a guest, with interactions such as being told to wait in a room (without specifying where) and then asked to just move to the other side. One of the interviewers appeared not fully aware of some programming principles such as the fact that "string is a reference class" and there was a debate among the two interviewers regarding that. The other interviewer appeared to be more knowledgeable throughout the interview. The test consisted of writing C# code to determine whether 2 strings are an Anagram. At a small syntax error, the interviewer exclaimed "I thought you said you know how to write C# code." The coding test is being supervised live on a projector. I am not sure what whether 2 strings are anagram has to do with with the high speed camera to detect problems in the paper manufacturing process. In conclusion it was a bad interview that denoted lack of professionalism and possibly even knowledge. So no thanks, even with an offer.
