Screening interview, then a brief behavioral interview, and then a take-home project. The process was slow and I often wondered if I had been ghosted. I finally had my second interview and I got a positive impression from it, so I stuck with it through the take-home. This was a Rails project that involved creating a new Rails app with a few models, consuming an API and creating an API endpoint. It wasn't terribly difficult but was definitely more time-consuming than most take-homes I've done. More than a week after submitting the project, which I was fairly happy with, I received an automated rejection email. Frankly, this was a relief, as the interview process had moved at an extremely slow pace (took well over a month) and seemed very unprofessional compared to other companies I'm interviewing with. But it's pretty disrespectful to send the same automated email to someone who just spent hours completing a project as you would to someone whose resume didn't match the job.
