I was called by a recruiter who wanted to know if I was interested in an RF design position, in addition to the systems role I had applied for. I was, so I applied online and received an invitation to interview either that day or the next. We scheduled it for the next week. When I arrived I showed my ID to the guard and received a visitor badge. I was met at the door by the hiring manager, who escorted me to the conference room. I sat with a 6 person panel consisting of 2 Project Engineers, 1 RF design engineer, 1 RF systems engineer, and two managers. We basically had a conversation about my past experience, why I was looking for a job, what kind of job I was looking for (they apparently had multiple req's that I was considered for), how I had handled failure; a typical engineering style interview. This lasted only an hour, at which point another group came for the conference room. After the panel discussion, the hiring manager took me to his office to answer any additional questions I had. This only lasted about 20 minutes, driven mostly by whatever I was interested in. I asked how their newly implemented Open Vacation policy was going, and he was very candid in his response. The one notable thing was how well the group got along, and how easily conversation flowed. They were all very friendly and welcoming. I ended up accepting the offer for a Project Engineer, which was not a position I had originally applied for, but was something I was very interested in. The hiring process was painfully long, with background checks and delays every step of the way.
