Entrevista
Applied online, was contacted a few days later to set up an online interview. Interviewer seemed ready to hang up before we even got started. Asked 2 or 3 very terse questions with little to no room to elaborate on skills. Questions like "Where did you go to school, when did you graduate, what was your major?" "If asked to, what subjects could you tutor today without needing to Google a lot of stuff?" as opposed to questions I expected such as "What would you do if a student was constantly distracted by their phone?" "How would you handle a student getting angry with you?". We role-played through 3 problems and then he ended the conversation with, "You'll hear back within 48 hours and if you don't then we just decided to not hire you." I appreciated the hard deadline for hearing back, but I was a little put-off that I put forth time and effort to prepare for the 30 minute interview but it was too much work to send a quick, "Thank you for your interest, but we've decided to pursue candidates who better fit our needs at this time" email.

If you had to tutor today, what subjects are you able to tutor without Googling anything?

The owner acts like a struggling student through skype and asks to go over a few problems. He gives you a few examples problems of varying difficulty. He also asks about previous tutoring experience and what you do currently.

There were no difficult or unexpected question that I can remember. I guess I never expected to "teach" the owner.
