I had applied for a Junior Machine Learning Engineer position at Berlin, Germany from Bangalore. All the interviews were conducted online (on google meet). All the interviews were conducted smoothly and on time. The process started off with a take-home assignment that I was able to complete in a day or two. Two questions - the first one was general Python programming which was easy. The second was a bit difficult involving probability and distributions (beta-binomial distribution). The first meeting was an introductory meeting with HR (wonderful person) who explained to me the interview process and asked me about my salary expectations. The second meeting was a technical interview conducted by one person with another just supervising the discussion. Questions asked were general Python programming and SQL queries. The third meeting was with the machine learning lead (wonderful person). Questions asked were all basic machine learning questions - overfitting, underfitting, feature selection, metrics, precision & recall, etc. The fourth meeting was with the hiring manager - General questions about current work and projects and workings of the organization. The final meeting was with HR to provide feedback on the interviews and discuss compensation and logistics of relocation. Overall a very positive experience with wonderful and accommodating people all around.
