Entrevista
Do not apply if you have a disability or if you do not ask for accommodations.
Not being told how the onsite interview was going to be conducted does not allow for the applicant to ask for accommodations until they are in the interview. I asked for accommodations and the staff said that it would not matter and ask that I start the interview (role play). I talked to and sent a email to their HR recruiter explaining the situation and provided documentation supporting the accommodations I requested and I have never heard back from him and he will not take my calls or respond to my voicemails. Contacted EEOC and filed a formal complaint.
The process started with the HR recruiter that setup a phone interview. He was very nice and asked basic questions about my background and experience. After the phone interview he sent a email to a online technical skills assessment. The test was very basic to the point that I was second guessing my answers because it seemed to easy.
Role playing interview is inconsistently evaluated by the staff conducting the interviews. A friend interviewed with the company about a month earlier and the feedback from his interview was that he did not have enough clinical knowledge and should have been able to help the client with their request if he had a stronger clinical background. My interviewers said that my strong clinical background (Physician) resulted in me leading the customer to a solution instead of letting the customer make the deciding what solution they wanted. The staff conducting the interview were very nice but they did not act like a customer and when asked questions they would say "Don't worry about that you would have that information about the customer before you go onsite to work on a project" and then in their feedback they said I did not ask questions about the customer. Same thing happened to my friend.
The onsite interview process started with the person at the front desk not knowing that I was suppose to be there for a interview and was interrupted by staff and took several phone calls and asked multiple times who I was and who I was scheduled to interview with. I gave her a copy of the email with the staff names and she I don't know these people and that they must be new. The office was cluttered with boxes and clutter. The staff that interviewed me were late and when we did the introductions they had been with the company for 4 and 6 years. The staff were very nice. They did not share very much about the company or themselves. One talked very briefly about his background and the other one did not. The one that talked about his background thought he was going to learn about MS SSIS and was surprised when he started that their DOS application sat on top of MS SSIS and that he was not going to learn anything new.
I should have read the reviews on Glassdoor about the company before applying and interviewing. It is obvious from the reviews by current and former employee's that the company has serious issues with diversity.
The process did not represent the image that the company portrays online of being a world class analytics company. The company has the feel of being a small company that is growing fast and they do not have process and procedures in place to manage basic business functions. There were a lot of small things that send the wrong message to potential employees. My interview lasted 2 and half hours and I asked about half way through if I could have something to drink or if there was a water fountain close by that I could use. I had brought a small bottle of water from the hotel but had drank most of it waiting the interview to start. I was told that the interview was almost over and that I could use the water fountain near the elevators.
As a Certified Analytics Professional the interview process was very disappointing. The Scenario based interviews are good at assessing some soft skills but this seemed like they were looking for a used car salesman instead of a experienced analytics person. I was excited about having a onsite interview with a company that I had heard so many good things about from a analytics perspective but was severely disappointed in how I was treated. It always surprises me how the companies in the healthcare industry that we trust to take care of our loved ones and how poorly they threat people with disabilities. There are some great companies and hospital systems that do a great job but this company is not one of them. I have struggled writing this review and waited a couple of weeks to write it to make sure that I was being objective and fair in my assessment. I have talked to a number of people that have interviewed with Health Catalyst, several that received offers and ones that did not and I have heard similar stories from them.

Phone interview was your typical questions about your background and experience. Tell me about yourself, etc.
Onsite Interview was a role playing exercise. You are given a scenario and asked to develop a solution with the interviewers acting as the client.
