HR is just ridiculous. They call during work hours expecting you to pick up - without emailing in advance to schedule a call with you - and they don’t leave voice messages if it goes to voicemail. So they expect you to be by the phone and available to speak anytime. I very politely expressed to them that emailing in advance would save a lot of back and forth time for both parties and it’s really unorthodox for them to just go straight into the question rounds which would take up 15-30 minutes of your time on the spot. In response to my feedback they said that emailing takes too long because they have to wait for candidates to reply… they waste your time by asking you questions the answers of which are already logged on the system via your application and CV, such as what languages you speak and where do you currently work. They ask you about what you do but fail to understand or grasp the concept or complexity of your current and past roles. It’s mind boggling how they’re supposed to be the ones in charge of the screening process because it really doesn’t seem to me that they have the ability to undertake such responsibilities.
