My interview with HR was great! ... but then, budget and level were discussed. Turns out, they were looking for someone to start in the associate level, but didn't mention that in the job description. Based on the kind of work the role would be doing, it was a little concerning that they were seeking someone with 0-2 years of experience. The role would impact all new hires and almost everyone at the company in some capacity. A lot of responsibility for lower pay and a lower job title. The budget for the role also signaled to me how much the company values that kind of work. GitLab still seems like a great company to work for, but I hope to see more alignment with the value of transparency before I apply for another role in the future. Despite the misalignment, the recruiter was friendly, and enjoyable to chat with!

Very easy to navigate but slow response times. Scheduling was very straightforward and no conflicts. I was scheduled with a screener first, then the hiring manager, then the team and the final stage would’ve been an offer.
