      Entrevista

It started with a questionnaire asking about your trading experience and personality. A panel of 3 interviewers (2 in casual homewear) posed questions but only 1 of them was listening. Interview was lacking in structure, could perhaps do with a review of the hiring process by having more HR personnel involvement as not all the interviewers appeared keen to understand about the candidate.

Dear Junior Trader Interviewee, Thank you for your honest review of your experience with us as an interviewee. We would like to take this opportunity to address your concerns and to correct any possible misunderstanding. Our company employs a casual dress code. Our interview panel, comprising of our director, a desk head and a senior trader, hold direct interviews to eliminate the risk of incorrect exclusion. Our interviews test on three core aspects: (1) Formal Background and Education, (2) Personal Psychology, and (3) Characteristic Attributes. Having our interviewers behave in a non-uniform manner to observe a candidates’ behavioural responses allows us to obtain a truer picture of a candidate, gauging natural preferences and aversions, and psychological biases. If you felt disrespected, we sincerely apologise that the rigour of our interview was unfavourable to you. We would also like to state that for our 2018 interviews, we have yet to receive any offer declinations, and deeply apologise if you were given the impression of having received an offer, which we only formally do so through a second or third interview in person. Wishing you all the best in your future endeavours and thank you for your kind attention and consideration. Yours sincerely, Genk Capital

Informal process Doesn't respect the interviewee Personally, I feel they need an actual HR to do the interview as the interviewer(traders from the company) lacks in EQ. and the HR doesn't seem to enjoy her job Learning isn't part of their culture. Making sure they had a good laugh is

Dear Junior Trader Interviewee, Thank you for your honest review of your experience with us as an interviewee. We would like to take this opportunity to address your concerns and to correct any possible misunderstanding. We hold direct interviews instead of interviews with Human Resources as our interview panel comprising of our director, a desk head and a senior trader, is more knowledgeable in the requirements for the position. This also eliminates the risk of incorrect exclusion. It is unfortunate that we left the impression that we are a firm not keen on learning. Continuous learning is integral to our company’s beliefs. Our traders are often in teams discussing new trading ideas and strategies and we frown upon being complacent with personal growth. Perhaps some laughter during your interview session with us left an unintended impression and we hope you might accept that any laughter on our part was intended light-heartedly. If you are confident that it was ill-intended, please inform us with the key information so that we might launch an internal investigation. It is indeed true that we have an informal interview process as our company culture is comparably non-corporate, with a casual dress code and a flat hierarchy. Thank you for taking note of this. On a side note, our Human Resources personnel have been with us for a minimum of 3 years each, and would like to thank you for your personal concern and assure you that they are doing well. We would also like to state that for our 2018 interviews, we have yet to receive any offer declinations, and deeply apologise if you were given the impression of having received an offer, which we only formally do so through a second or third interview in person. We hope that we have addressed your concerns and if we have overlooked something, please kindly inform us. Wishing you all the best in your future endeavours and thank you for your kind attention and consideration. Yours sincerely, Genk Capital

      Entrevista

The interview started with a questionnaire form to fill up with questions about my personal life and opinions on various topics, followed by a panel interview consisting of the director, desk head, and a senior trader, which can be quite intimidating. Their questions test on your psychology/mindset, and on your ability to think outside of the box and to solve mathematical questions. Interviewers were dressed in casual, as was hinted on their company website and I had pre-emptively dressed myself in smart casual. It is easy to tell that each interviewer has a different base personality but I have learnt never to judge a book by its’ cover. It does not mean that when a person is not looking at you, that they are not listening, so I would suggest for all interviewers to stay positive throughout the interview and keep putting your best foot forward. Most importantly, attending an interview is not just for you to get the job. It is as much about letting the firm have an opportunity to decide if you might be suitable for the position, as for you to gain insight about the company and position so that you might make a reasoned decision as to why you think you might or might not do well at the firm. Be sincere, be yourself, and be open-minded. I attended the first round of interviews with the panel, and received a response in a week to attend a second interview, where I was offered the position. There was no interview with HR.
