Solicité el puesto a través de un captador. Acudí a una entrevista en GLG (New York, NY) en jul 2020

      Entrevista

So I was initially contacted by a recruiter from GLG on June 25th via LinkedIn regarding the role. I was immediately scheduled for a phone screen on July 1st that ultimately went pretty well. Next up was a video call on July 17th with with the hiring manager. That also went very well and resulted in moving on to the next phase in the process which was a video call on July 24th with a another senior leader. As had been the case with the other two interviews, this one also went well. I was scheduled for a final interview on August 4th. Unfortunately the Tri-State area got hit with a pretty major storm that day which caused a power outage in my area. Luckily I had emailed the internal Recruiter the night before the interview to let her know that I was anticipating that I might be impacted by the storm. So after sending an apology for not being able to complete the interview, they did in fact reschedule the video call for August 12th. Not to sound like a broken record, but this interview also went quite well. After the interview I sent the customary thank you email. Two days later I received a message from the recruiter that a meeting was scheduled with the hiring manager on Tuesday August 18th and that she'd provide feedback afterwards. After the 18th came and went, I reached out on the afternoon of the 19th just to see if there were any updates. Recruiter responded that due a "competing priority" her meeting with the Hiring Manager had been postponed. At that point I began to get a little frustrated, but I thanked her for the update and went about my week. After not hearing anything for a few days I decided to reach out again on August 25th as by that point my search process was starting to become a bit more active. I wanted to be transparent that I was indeed exploring opportunities, but certainly was still excited about the possibility of joining the GLG team. Again, I heard nothing back. At this point I am now truly frustrated. Not because of the possibility that I may not be chosen for the role. That of course happens. There are plenty of dynamic and qualified candidates out there looking for work. My frustration stemmed from (especially when I began to think about the process from start to finish) how long the process actually dragged on for (mind you it began on June 25th and it's now August 25th), as well as how much of my time I actually devoted to speaking with the GLG team, and now realizing that I might be getting ghosted by an employer. Although I'm aware that being ghosted by employers is not all that uncommon, I was still really bothered by the fact that an organization as established as GLG would behave this way. I even began reading articles from different recruiters on why this happens to be a common trend albeit an unfortunate one. One of the most common reasons that I saw listed across a number of different articles was that occasionally a recruiter might resign during the interview process causing the communication to go dark. With that in mind I decided to take a look at the recruiter's LinkedIn profile. Low and behold, she had indeed moved on from GLG. Needless to say, I was disappointed with how GLG handled the transitioning of this search and the communication with me as an active candidate. However, I realize that we're living in some unprecedented times and we all may need to come to expect that bumps in the road in terms of coordination and process are likely. So I decided at that point to reach out to a couple of the interviewers to let them know that I'd noticed that the recruiter who I'd been working with had moved on. I got a response apologizing for the confusion, and was assured that someone from the team would be reaching out. While I was still in frustration mode, I was super appreciative of the quick response and also relieved that maybe I wasn't being ghosted. This may very well have slowed down due to a snafu related to the unexpected departure of the original recruiter. On August 26th, I received an email from another person on the recruiting team confirming the other recruiter's departure. The person confirmed that she was now the lead recruiter for this role and would be meeting with the hiring manager at the end of the week "to get some decisions". I thanked her for the follow up and said that I'd look forward to a follow up. That email was received on August 26th. It's now September 9th. The position has since been taken down (so I assume it was filled). End result being that I've likely been ghosted a second time. Overall the process took way too long, and GLG demonstrated a clear lack of respect for my time. Very disappointing.

      Pregunta 1

The conversations weren't terribly structured which I kind of enjoyed. A good amount of focus was on covid and my thoughts on returning to work.
