Entrevista
I originally applied for their Supervisor Leadership Program, Auto Damage Training - Lakeland FL position. I received an e-mail thanking me for my interest in GEICO, receipt of my application, and that I would receive another e-mail to take a personality assessment. I never received the e-mail for the link to the personality assessment. I e-mailed them back and asked that it be sent. It was never sent. I then received an e-mail informing me that the position was "closed", but they wanted to speak with me about other openings. However, the position was still posted and a friend of mine was able to submit an application and received a confirmation e-mail for the same position. I agreed to do a phone interview the next day. They called me right on time. The caller/interviewer was a very young sounding woman who informed me that the only open position was for a call center Customer Service Representative and would I consider applying for the position. The position required that you be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays. I agreed and she then started reading from a script, and sounded very robotic-like. She informed me that it would "only pay" 32K per year and that on my other application I wrote 40K to 45K and wanted to know why I would accept that kind of reduction in starting income. As the condescending discussion went on I realized that as she asked me about my work history that she was reading my resume that I had submitted from 8 months ago for another position and not the one I had submitted as an updated version. I mentioned that I would need to resubmit an updated version to fill in the gaps of employment. She said that I could not edit my resume they had on file. She then went on to ask me why I would be willing to relocate, what my previous attendance and punctuality rates were, all with a tone that she was very inconvenienced and put-off by having to speak with me on these matters. She ended the conversation by stating that there were several applicants under consideration and that if I were lucky enough to be considered further that I would receive notification. Even though this was a preliminary phone interview I expected a mention or question about my skills, knowledge, experience, and education. None of these topics were broached. After ending the call and reflecting on its content I was left with the feeling that GEICO is keeping that position posted to attract qualified applicants to see if they will take a lesser position due to the state of the economy. The next day I e-mailed GEICO and asked to be removed from consideration for the position.

Process took 3 days. They called and did a phone screening interview. Explained the program and what I could expect from the process. Asked a lot of basic interview questions about my background. I took and online assessment and then contacted to schedule a second phone interview for the next day. It was more of the same questions and he wrote down the answers. Finally, I went into the office for a role playing type of test. I thought it was a neat experience, but very ineffective to determine the candidates ability to do the job once actually trained. They give you 30 mins to read instructions regarding 10 forms on the table and then give you 5 different scenarios to complete. It is hard because you are trying to learn as you are being tested, which is why I think the process is a poor judge of capability. After running through the scenario they emailed me saying I would not go further. I thought I did well considering learning it only a few minutes ago so don't beat yourself up if you don't pass, I am not quite sure what they are looking for with this method.

Leadership scenario questions. Make sure you have plenty examples on hand of your experiences.
phone interview.
A call time was set up and scheduled on line. They asked standard questions. The whole thing only took about 20 minutes. It was easy if you prepare and talk like it is regular conversation.

tell me about a time when you faced a difficult decision or situation and how you showed leadership
waste of time, I don't understand why they even had me go through that whole process when they already had the girl picked out. Most of the people there had no clue what was going on. sat in on some calls and sat in front of panal of three.
