The first two rounds of the interview process were straightforward, the first was a 1-on-1 30 minute phone conversation with a hiring manager, the second round was a panel interview with 3 members of the Eurasia team in various locations (be ready, you will be tested on the spot on russian language ability), after that I was pressured into a last minute interview with the director of the Eurasia program. The final round interview was strange to say the least, some quasi insulting statements were made and the energy of the interview was off. I never got any response back after that point, be warned, if you are not selected to continue in the process you will never hear back from them. This is the second instance where I took final round interview with them and never heard a word back.

Basic questions on strengths/weakness. What have you directly contributed to with democracy promotion previously that you are proud of? What is your background on the following Eurasian states___? How would you handle being a junior team member tasked with getting documents from senior members of organizations overseas who might not respect you or find your documentation requests irritating?

I was contacted promptly, just a day after submitting my application, which I appreciated. The interview process itself was straightforward; however, the questions asked were quite basic, such as my name and experience. Unfortunately, the interviewers did not seem fully prepared, which left a less-than-professional impression.
I was informed 4 days later that I could not be considered for the role due to a deadline for the position. It would have been helpful if this deadline had been clearly communicated in the job description to prevent any misunderstanding or waste of time on both sides.
