First step was assessment and personality inventory. They then insisted that this assessment result be verified either in person or via Skype/Go-To-Meeting.
Was informed that first online assessment results were very good. Told that I was only actual qualified candidate in their so-called pipeline. Was told that no other candidates had met the critiera. Took virtual webcam assessment and was informed right away that results actually improved even though their test does not allow for going back when you realize you've made an error.
The recruiter (internal) then informed me that my resume was being forwarded to the hiring manager in San Diego and that she would call me. Thanksgiving came and went and I finally called back the next Friday. Got an email response that unfortunately they had gone with a different candidate (that did not exist the prior week) and they'd keep me in mind.
If you're looking for a position in Austin, these people are cheap. They balked at my current salary and said that it may be a problem, then at the same time they said they had literally not found anyone who met the qualification requirements for the position they advertised. Um, anyone see a disconnect there? Hate to tell you CA guys, but it's just as expensive to live in Austin. Better get ready to either pay the prevailing wages or start getting hammered in social media and dealing with attrition.
Anyway, I asked for some constructive feedback on the process and how I was suddenly put out of the candidate pool for a very specialized skill set in favor of a candidate that had previously been stated by the recruiter (internal) not to exist.
Don't expect honesty and you better pretend that their 18 to 20% salary reductions for the same positions from San Diego to Austin are OK with you before you divulge your current salary via their THOROUGH online application system. But maybe that's just for non-tech jobs at a company that clearly undervalues all employees except programmers.
