An “executive" recruiter at Foot Locker reached out about the role after I submitted an application. During a brief interview she asked a couple of questions that could have been answered by reviewing my resume and understanding the job she was hiring for. She thought I worked for a different company which would have been easily verifiable by looking at LinkedIn. And, she told me my experience didn't match up with the role because she didn't understand the terms used in email and lifecycle marketing.
Because the bulk of my experience is in smaller organizations, she decided I wasn't a good fit. Given Foot Lockers apparent decline based on stock evaluations, they might want to consider broadening their hiring pools. People from start ups tend to be more creative and have a stronger work ethic and you are certainly missing out if you only hire people from large companies.
