HR got in touch and asked for a call the next day to discuss the role. All seemed OK and smooth at this stage. I was told they wanted to recruit switly and offer the role before the end of the year, which was the same month. The interview was a panel structure. I didn't get the impression the person who would line manage this role was particularly confident or experienced in digital content management. Less than a week after the interview I received an automated email to say they wouldn't progress with my application but that I could apply again for the same job in six months. I reached out to the HR representative to ask why this was the case but had no response. Truly poor experience. If its the case the job was offered to an internal person then there should be transparency. Employers seem not to grasp how much time interview prep can take, not to mention having to take time out from an existing job to attend the interivew with limited slots offered by the employer.
