Overall, this is probably the worst interview experience that I have gone through. If you are looking for a workplace where you will be respected, valued, and allowed to ask questions and learn, don't waste your time interviewing here. The interviewers were rude, did not provide feedback, cut my interview short, and I never received any further communication from the company despite being promised detailed feedback following the interview. The way that I was treated as a candidate says a lot about the company and its culture. At the end of the day, had I been given the opportunity to work at Fetch, I would not have been able to accept.
After submitting an application, I was sent a pretty simple take-home coding assignment. Upon completing it I was contacted shortly after to schedule a technical phone screen.
During the phone screen, I was asked to walk through the take-home assignment. After the technical phone screen, I was invited to a "remote" onsite interview.
The onsite interview was where things took a turn for the worst. There were initially supposed to be around 5 different interviews for about 5.5 hours with different team members. During the first interview which was live coding, the interviewers were pretentious and condescending. As I began coding if I asked questions, they seemed annoyed. When I finished they barely engaged with me and I instead led the conversation and walked through my logic. I received no feedback and when I asked them questions in the end they were answered with a sarcastic and snarky tone.
The next interview of the onsight was an OOD challenge where I was expected use Lucid chart to build out class architecture that I would use to build out a shopping cart feature. As I began to ask clarifying questions, the interviewer interjected and recommended that I spend some time improving my Java skills. She then went on to cut the interview short by 40 mins and completely dismissed me.
When I entered the zoom meeting for the next interview, I was met by the hiring manager instead who told me that they would not be moving forward with the interview and that I would be receiving feedback from HR in the next few days.
