I applied online for a marketing role at Glico and was soon invited to complete a pre-recorded video interview. Unfortunately, the process was frustrating and lacked transparency. The invitation came via a system-generated email with a deadline, but no detailed instructions or context about the interview format.
When I accessed the platform, I was met with a series of questions that appeared one after another with no pause. Each response had to be recorded within 60 seconds, with no time allowed to think or prepare. There was no opportunity to re-record or even understand the full structure beforehand, which made the process unnecessarily stressful and impersonal.
For a company that aims to find top talent, this approach felt rushed and ineffective. Candidates should be given clear guidance and expectations upfront, especially when the format is as rigid as this. Unsurprisingly, I received a rejection email the following day.
This experience left me questioning how seriously candidate experience is considered in their hiring process. I hope Glico reconsiders this approach to make the process more respectful and supportive of applicants’ efforts.

I ended up rejecting the interview invitation. After I applied, I was invited to complete a 1-sided recorded screening interview online through a 3rd-party website. This step did not include a process for me to ask them (the employer) any of my own questions to confirm this is still the right opportunity for me. If I still want to move on to the next step. If our salary expectations are aligned, etc. Overall, it seems like they don't care about wasting candidates' time from the very beginning of the hiring process.
