i spent a long time typing up my application and was excited that there were two positions available. I got an email a few weeks later asking me to come to an interview at the Essex Fire HQ. The building was quite modern and looked impressive. The receptionist was friendly. I had to walk through quite a large portion of the building to get to the interview room. I was interviewed by two ladies. One was friendly and the other looked like she wanted to be anywhere else. The odd one kept checking her watch and had her body angled away from me. I felt like something on the bottom of her shoe. The questions I felt had very little to do with the actual job I applied for. It seemed the interviewers were asking me tough questions because they wanted me to fail. I later learnt from a friend that they only hired two women. Both of which weren't interested in the role and went elsewhere. I felt discriminated against because I'm a male because of my interview experience. If you're a male you're going to have not chance unless you're a woman or have a ton of experience in a similar role. Overall it was a waste of time. Everyone was friendly other than that one lady.
