      Entrevista

I interviewed for a Human Resources Business Partner role at Enfinity Global Japan and wanted to share my experience to help future candidates. Overall, I met several talented and professional individuals throughout the process, particularly the Chief People Officer and the CEO of Japan. Both left a positive impression, and I appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the company and its vision. The recruitment process itself, however, was unusually long and at times difficult to follow. My first contact with the company took place in March. By early June, the process was still ongoing, resulting in a total duration of nearly three months. I was initially approached by the company regarding this opportunity rather than applying for the role myself. During the first conversations, my background in Talent Acquisition and Talent Branding, rather than a traditional HR Business Partner profile, was clearly discussed and understood. It was also openly communicated that the compensation range being considered was below my current package. Despite this, I remained genuinely interested in the opportunity because I saw it as a chance to broaden my experience beyond Talent Acquisition and Talent Branding and develop new skills across other areas of Human Resources. For that reason, I was willing to invest the time and energy required to complete what ultimately became a nearly three-month recruitment process. After the initial conversation with Talent Acquisition, I interviewed with the Chief People Officer. One of our interviews was scheduled for 30 minutes but started approximately 15 minutes late, leaving very little time for a meaningful discussion. To her credit, the Chief People Officer immediately acknowledged the issue, took full responsibility, sincerely apologized, and arranged a follow-up conversation for the following day. During that second meeting, we had a productive and engaging discussion about the role, my background, and the company's needs. I appreciated the professionalism with which the situation was handled, and I left the conversation with a very positive impression. Following that discussion, I was informed that the next step would be a face-to-face interview with the CEO of Japan. However, that meeting did not take place until approximately one month later due to repeated scheduling delays and internal coordination issues. During this period, I had to proactively follow up multiple times to obtain updates. The meeting with the CEO was positive and reinforced my interest in the role. Following that discussion, I was informed that this would be the final step in the process. However, additional interviews were subsequently added. One of the additional interviewers attended as scheduled, but I found the conversation somewhat confusing, as it appeared that his understanding of the role differed significantly from the position that had been described to me throughout the process. Another interviewer, however, did not join the meeting at all. I informed Talent Acquisition immediately after the missed interview and offered to reschedule. The meeting was never rearranged, and I did not receive any explanation regarding the absence. What made the experience particularly challenging was the lack of proactive communication throughout the process. Several periods of silence occurred, often requiring me to initiate follow-up emails in order to obtain updates. After my final completed interview in mid-May, more than three weeks passed without any proactive communication from the company, despite being told that an update would be provided the following week. I also found it confusing that the company ultimately appeared to prioritize candidates with stronger HR Business Partner backgrounds. My experience is primarily in Talent Acquisition and Talent Branding, and this was fully transparent from the very beginning of the process. It was clearly reflected in my resume and openly discussed throughout the interviews. Given that this was known from the outset, it was difficult to understand why it became a key differentiating factor after multiple interviews conducted over nearly three months Based on the feedback shared with me throughout the process, I understood that multiple stakeholders viewed my profile positively, which made the final rationale more difficult to reconcile with the discussions we had during the interviews. To be fair, I met several capable and professional individuals during the process, and I appreciate the time they invested in getting to know me. However, the overall recruitment experience felt lengthy, inconsistent, and at times lacking in coordination and alignment between stakeholders. My advice to future candidates would be to expect a potentially extended hiring timeline, maintain other opportunities in parallel, and proactively follow up if you are waiting for updates.
