I actually applied to EB Games twice. The first time, I waited months to receive a callback. When they called, I had been at uni. When I called them back after class to confirm I wanted an interview, the person I was on with sounded confused and unconfident, and they basically said "maybe check in another time." So, the next day, I went into the store. Neither of the people working had any idea what I was talking about, so they took my name and phone number, stuck it to the till, and said I'd get another call. A week went by or radio silence. I went in again to ask and they did the same thing. This process repeated once more before I got too frustrated and gave up. At no point was I told "the position is filled" or "we actually decided not to go through with your application," always just "check back later." About a year later, I applied again just as I was looking for work, and (because I was an irritating teenager), I checked in with their manager each week or so, asking if they had gone over the CVs. Eventually, I received another call-back and scheduled an interview (after about a month? It's been a long time). The actual interview process at EB is exceedingly casual. The manager and I went and sat in the food court at the mall, and she asked some pretty generic questions ("when do you feel like you've gone above and beyond for somebody," "what are your hobbies," "what are some of your achievements," etc.) Be prepared to also talk about your interests. Do you like Disney? Marvel? Anime? TCG? Are you a gamer? What platforms do you know about? There's not much instore product training at EB, so you'll typically be hired based on existing product knowledge and general vibes. I'm not joking. When I watched my manager interviewing other people, typically during busy periods, she'd not even take them away from the counter. Just ask their availability and if they have a car and maybe 1-2 other questions and then decide if their vibe matched the team's vibe or not.
