It wasn’t really an interview, more like a chat. I had reached out to several people trying to find out more about their hiring process and workplace culture as I never heard back, not even a template rejection. And this individual replied back about 2.5 months after I sent in my initial application.
Firstly, the individual I spoke with someone was who said they would be directly managing this position. They said that Discord actually does not put hiring manager info on LinkedIn postings to prevent potential hires from reaching out and contacting employees, even though I had seen a lot of contrary info from other companies. I also kinda felt like I didn’t have space or time to talk enough or share what I had in mind during our chat but I had thought I had made a pretty positive impression.
The individual I spoke with said they loved me and wanted me on their team, and would be able to push my application to the front. They also asked for my resume and cover letter again, and said an assessment or test of some kind would be sent. I sent over the requested documents right away.
I kept checking for the assessment that was going to be coming, since I was told it will take about an hour but I never received it. A couple days later I followed up, fearing I missed something, but the individual I spoke with seemed to have forgotten about our chat completely. The reaction I received to my follow up was pretty strange, but maybe the person was having a bad day, I would rather give them the benefit of the doubt.
I’ve only heard good things about working here, so I was genuinely really excited about the opportunity. Maybe this is for the better, who knows.
