      Entrevista

I applied for the Enterprise Account Executive, DHS position and reached the interview stage. My first call was with HR, which went well and focused on my 10 years of federal civilian experience, particularly within DHS. I was then advanced to the next round, which was with the hiring manager. During the interview with the hiring manager, it became evident that her primary focus was not on my qualifications or experience but rather on gathering information about my DHS contacts and relationships, especially within the USCIS sector. This felt like a fact-finding mission aimed at extracting contact details she would pass along to the true candidate she wanted to hire. The latter part of the conversation involved sales targets and expectations, which, in my view, are fairly standardized. When asked about the support and resources I'd require if selected, it seemed the hiring manager lost interest, even showing signs of disinterest by yawning. We ended the call 15 minutes earlier than the scheduled 45 minutes, and I returned to my current job. As anticipated about 4 days later, HR informed me that they were going in another direction. I interpreted this as a preference for a candidate with less experience to avoid overshadowing the hiring manager. Needless to say I laughed at the email, sent a reply of thanks for letting me know and I moved the email to the trash. No harm no foul!!
