Recruiter viewed my profile and reached out via LinkedIn to see if I would be interested. I didn’t think my profile fit with some of the technical requirements but decided to have a talk with him anyway. I decided to pursue the role and continue the process. Spoke to the hiring manager who asked some basic questions about big data and my BI experience.
I was given a take home coding assessment, which was medium level in difficulty and passed. Then the recruiting did well in coordinating and scheduling the next 5 interviews (a technical, cultural fit, sales-ish component and then two interviews with SVP’s). This was all speedily handled by HR.
I was given and accepted a verbal offer. But after a few days of silence and no sign of the contract, the SVP made contact and informed me I was rejected and the offer rescinded because upper management saw me as a ‘job hopper’ and were worried I would leaver after IPO.
They saw the lack of tenure despite jumping through all of their hoops as a red flag. I was devastated by the experience and now stay away from companies that require 5 or more interviews as part of their process.
