      BE AWARE! DataBento is a startup that sources leads and sales information from prospective candidates with no intention of moving them forward. DataBento is essentially getting free work out of most candidates and not providing feedback on how you did to improve. Really deceitful and I wouldn't trust this company. I have pasted the entire take-home assignment below that is supposed to take 30 - 60 minutes, when in reality it takes 5 or 6 hours.

      This assignment takes 30-60 minutes on average. It's not timed, so you can take more or less time as needed. Part 1: Personas and value prop Review the Databento website and any other related information you can find on the company. Using Linkedin or other sites, make a list of 5 qualified leads. Please link to their profiles, OR write down their company name, function, and other relevant persona information. You're welcome to choose one or multiple buyer personas. (See sample formatting below.) Using your best judgment, what are Databento's top 1-2 selling points? Note that selling points might differ between personas. Feel free to make assumptions about Databento. (Bonus: If you know of any industry regulations or news that could lead to more sales opportunities, mention them here.) Based on what you've learned thus far, what are the top 1-2 customer objections you'd anticipate? How would you address those objections in a typical sales conversation? List a few red and green flags of customer behavior during the sales journey. What signs indicate their true buyer readiness? Part 2: Cold email From your list above, choose who you think is the most relevant lead and draft a cold email pitching Databento. Feel free to pitch a specific product or Databento as a whole—whatever you feel is most appropriate for that lead. You may roleplay as yourself or another person within Databento. Sample formatting: Email title: Email body: (All responses are confidential and will not be shared outside of the interview process.) Delivery and time limit Submit your answers in a PDF to the Greenhouse link provided in the original email. You may also contact us through the same email if you experience technical difficulty uploading your project, would like an extension, or are no longer interested. The deadline for your submission is exactly 1 week from the delivery timestamp of the accompanying email we sent you with the link to this page. Evaluation criteria We'll evaluate your take-home for the following criteria, in descending order of importance: General writing skills, e.g. spelling, grammar, appropriate tone, and style. Understanding of our target customers and orthogonal value-add in your network. (We prefer seeing lesser-known prospects over low-hanging fruit.) Ability to convey selling points and technical features of a product. Understanding of common objections as well as red and green flags during the sales process. Ability to conduct research and acquire relevant domain knowledge within a limited timeframe.

      Thank you for sharing your honest feedback. We understand your concerns about the take-home assignment. Based on feedback like yours, we've revised our process so that the first round is an actual interview. We also changed the interview process to eliminate the possibility of ill intent or misinterpretation of the intent of the interview. We appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention!
