The recruiter was excellent during the whole process. It was a 1 on 1 interview for the first stage that went on to a group panel that lasted 4 hours with an assessment test at the end. The whole interview process itself was fine with work relevant question. However the setup of the interview was a bit hectic. The panel/group interview was booked in my calendar for week already but last minute they decided to add on an additional interviewee and a test at the end. No prep no warning and my recruiter wasn't even aware of it.
All those elements took me by surprise and I was on a very tight time crunch so it completely threw me off and unnerved me. I was told later that I had use of the internet for help...which would have been nice to know in the beginning.
Interview process was straightforward.
Screening call with HR.
30 minute intro call with hiring manager, who told me about the role, asked some basic questions. It was pleasant.
Had two 30 minute interviews with people on hiring manager's team. Was asked standard questions about my work experience, some behavioral questions, etc.
Then I had the case interview in which I was asked to present a case presentation on any topic of my choice. The hiring manager had given me a suggestion, so I decided to choose a topic based off that suggestion. Needless to say, when it came time to present, I was surprised to learn that my topic was "off-topic." And the instructions I had received from HR were quite unclear as well. During the case presentation someone had mentioned that other interviewees had also gone "off-topic" (despite the broad scope and ambiguous instructions for the presentation) - so apparently this wasn't the first time they'd encountered this.
I probably could have asked for further clarification from HR, but it wasn't helpful receiving unclear instructions and then conflicting recommendations from the hiring manager.
One thing that I do appreciate this interview process, is that they actually got back to me, in a timely manner, with their hiring decision. And I appreciate that HR actually called me to deliver the news by phone. I can't recall ever having such an experience with any other company I've interviewed with.
