The first step was a remote screening of moderate difficulty, focused primarily on various technical skills. During this process, my primary contact at the company was communicative and pleasant. After passing the remote screening I was invited out to the Manchester office for an in-person interview.
In contrast to the screening process, the on-site interview was an unpleasant experience. I spent approximately 2-3 hours in a conference room, standing in front of a white board while a panel of 7-10 employees lobbed technical questions at me. I had no idea who the participants were - people joined and left the interview at will. This session was followed by a brief one on two meeting, with additional technical questions. Throughout the process, the attitude of the interviewers was dismissive and slightly condescending. I recall leaving the office feeling empty, with the conviction that if an offer was extended I would likely not accept.
