      Entrevista

It was very throughout and transparent. I went in for a Communications position because that's what I studied in college. After we went over my resume and the qualifications, the interviewer noticed my leadership experience and asked if I ever thought about becoming a manager. He stated that they are looking for future managers for their company to continue expanding and help the clients grow, so I was curious because I wanted to grow in a company. After going over why they need more managers and how they build them - it was clear that this was for me. There was much more growth in that position of manager in training than the Comm Coordinator anyway. They told me they focused on self development, professional development, sales and marketing strategies, team management, accounting, hr, all the way up to upper level management. They went over the hours, the salary structure, and how to move from one phase of the program to the next. Very simple, but I understood that it wasn't going to be easy. After the second interview, where I got to shadow how they do marketing and sales for their clients, I was ready to go. I don't think I have been this excited about a company or my next move as I was when I was accepted to college. The third interview was quick - but I love that they were very transparent and forthcoming about what they do as a company. I studied Comm so I could use it anywhere and be successful. it was refreshing to see a company actually want you to grow and develop rather than stay in your position for 5+ years and never grow in a company. I am excited to start once I finish up my last few finals for school.

      Entrevista

I found this job on LinkedIn and it was listed as a “Communications Coordinator” position. I had a phone screen and was told to come in the next day, i couldn’t so I came in the following day. When I came in for the first in person interview they explained to me that it would be direct sales... which was confusing considering I thought I was interviewing for a Communications Coordinator positon. Once they explained to me the different stages and that everyone would start as an entry level direct marketer, I thought it was a RED FLAG, however, I had been looking for a new opportunity for a while so I thought maybe it’s something I could do short term. I passed the initial interview and was told to come in the following the day for the second round of interviews but I would have to do it the next day or I wouldn’t be able to get the position. (RED FLAG - pressuring you to continue) I had another interview for a different company the next day so I told her I couldn’t go. She called me later that day and said they could make an exception for me and I could come in the 2 days later for the second interview, which would be a 2 hour interview shadowing a current employee in the field. When I shadowed the employee and had the opportunity to ask her questions confirmed to me that they where blindly soliciting businesses to purchase cheap makeup. (RED FLAG) At the end of the day they offered me the position. I accepted. I went home later that night to try to dig and do additional research on the company but it was extremely hard to find. (Red flag #2145252) I eventually found that the makeup that they sell door to door “Makeup Essentials” has beyond terrible reviews on the Better Business Bureau and many complain about the solicitation. They said they world with Fortune 500 companies but finding the list of top companies they work with is no where to be found. It’s suspicious that they said this company has been around for 30 years with branches all over the country yet it’s so difficult to find any legitimate information about DCP unless they’re branches go by completely different aliases, which should then be listed on their site but isn’t... or at least the parent company should. (Red Flag) Anyway, the night that I received the position i got a call from one of the employees I shadowed and she left me a message confirming her excitement that I got the position. I perceived that to be a manipulation tactic to have me not doubt my decision as opposed to just being nice and welcoming. Just my opinion. However the next day I turned it down for all the aforementioned reasons. Minimal transparency and hard to find background on the company beside their personal website.... I mean in this day and age if I can’t google a company and easily find their history, and information, reviews, etc... that’s a red flag. Especially a company that claims they’ve been around for 30 years. What is their to hide? Just beware

This interview is not what it seems. I approached it like every other job interview that I have been going to for the last few months. Found them on LinkedIn, and found out that they do marketing and sales for various clients. After asking in the interview what their clients were (I couldn't find that anywhere) they told me that they work with Makeover Essentials, The New York Yankees, Mets, New Jersey Devils, and the SF Giants in CA, Inspire, and other clients. It's a very humble team from what I learned, all very young but have accomplished a lot. That was exciting for me, because I could see myself working with them. I was invited to shadow a day in the field - I got the opportunity to get to know more staff members. That was honestly really great! I was able to learn more about the day to day, got to see their structure and procedures, and learn more about the clients live. I am waiting for a 3rd interview, but the first 2 were pretty great! I loved the whole experience. Anything I asked, they answered. They have locations in Ohio, Missouri, New York, and are opening up soon in Philadelphia and Nashville - I really want to be part of that expansion crew. I want to relocate!!
