The process was outlined in a reasonably straightforward manner; however, they struggled to deliver a positive experience at every step. They rescheduled the video interview a number of times by email. They instructed me to log into the Zoom 20 minutes before the interview to ensure everything was working. 5 minutes before the interview they emailed a new link for a new Zoom, which I did not receive because I was already in the designated Zoom for an interview. They then tried to call my mobile, but I had silenced my phone so as not to be distracted. When I and the other candidate were still waiting ten minutes after the interview was to have begun, I checked my email and found the new information. They had a group of the unit's nursing staff conducting the interview. That group would frequently mute their line and laugh with each other when I was answering their questions. At one point, they were so distracted that I had to repeat my answer 3 times. Finally one of them answered "Not really" to a question that asked for them to explain and elaborate. The case study was also made more difficult by the interview team's poor preparation. There would be very long pauses before they would move onto the next question.

I applied to the new graduate nurse residency program, which required submitting an application with essay responses and two letters of recommendation. After the application deadline, candidates may be contacted for a panel interview. I am currently preparing for the interview stage.
