I received an email requesting a three minute video and was invited to an interview shortly afterward. The interview went well, but I found it strange that they asked whether I was doing the interview during my working hours. It wasn’t the case, as it was a bank holiday and I still had some PTO left, which I told them. After the interview, they emailed again to ask specifically about that bank holiday. I responded with more detail, and just a couple of hours later I received a rejection email. It was kind of a bizarre exchange to be honest!

I went through two interviews. The interview process was swift; it took almost a week from receiving the invitation to getting the offer. At first, the owner and the production coordinator seemed nice. I wasn't stressed at all. We talked about my experience, their company, and the job. They considered me a perfect fit for the role. So, they sent me an offer, which I negotiated with them, and they accepted and invited me to the training. However, the contract lacked many essential points. For example, overtime compensation, their offer for PTO and public holidays. In addition, I suggested adjusting the working hours (8 work hours + one-hour break instead of 8 work hours + three-hour break) because their offer means that I would be available to work 11 hours a day, which is unimaginable. They replied by saying they are a "growing company" and "in the process of setting up internal processes.", which is just an excuse for exploiting people. However, I accepted because it was a transitional job for me, and I just wanted the experience on my CV. I told them that we could discuss these details later. But they withdrew their offer and ignored my email. For a company that talks so much about values, that was disappointing. You can't exploit people under the pretext of being a "growing company" or not having "internal processes". These are the basics. And the most paramount value one can have is respect.
