An initial exploratory conversation occurred in the fall with the HM before a job spec had been finalized. Six weeks later I was notified the job was posted if I still wanted to apply so I did. Three weeks later I was asked to interview with a recruiter via video chat and then submit a project sample of my work. Two weeks later I was booked into a HM video interview and two weeks after that a final interview with the interim head of recruiting. In that interview I was told I'd be given an update on an offer within a week. Three weeks and a few nudges later by me seeking an update, both the recruiter and the HM separately emailed within 15 minutes of each other with the turn-down news. I do understand their recruiting process is struggling and rather chaotic, as that's the main reason they need someone in this role to help sort it all out, but don't think I fully realized just how poor a candidate experience and impression that process created until I was done with it. Fingers crossed they can turn things around as I love the mission of the organization.
