About 3 weeks after filling out the online form, I received a call at 8pm on a Sunday asking if I'd be available for a group interview.
The group interview was about 2 hours long and there were about 30 people in the room, this was their second group interview of that week. The group interview involved introducing yourself to everyone else and telling them what your favourite movie is, a movie quiz and a group test where you're split into groups of about 3 or 4 people and you're given prompt cards - the prompt cards give a scenario and a character, your job is to work together to create an engaging movie and pitch it in front of everyone.
After this you're asked to write your availability on your movie quiz sheet.
Two days later I got a phone call asking if I could attend a 1-2-1 interview, bring a form of ID, ect - standard second interview stuff. It started fairly normal, questions about my character along with scenario questions. This '1-2-1 interview' would also involve a 1.5 hour unpaid trial shift that was not mentioned beforehand, making this a 2 hour 'interview' that I wasn't prepared for. After about an hour of serving customers (in my own clothes lol), I asked how much longer I'll be doing this for, the person supervising me looked surprised and said "I don't actually know. Why? Do you have somewhere to be? Can you stay for a bit longer? We're about to hit rush hour. ". My 'interview' finished 20 minutes later. I was told I'd get a call back the next day - they never called back.
For a 0 hour, minimum wage, contract, this is absolutely appalling and a massive waste of time.
They were also evasive when asked how many hours the successful candidate would be working and how many people they're hiring, they just let me know I'd been narrowed down to the top 15 out of 400.
I don't blame the staff as they seemed really nice, it feels like they've been handed a script that even they're not completely happy with.
