I applied online through the Cineplex careers website and got a phone call about a week and a half later at 10 o'clock at night. A woman basically just asked if I was available for an interview in person the next day and I was. (Note: I highly suggest doing your research about the company if you get the opportunity to interview with them. It really impresses them to know you're invested and if you're interviewing for VIP, you don't need to know a lot, just a basic understanding about the concept - no kids, more exclusive experience, higher end food/beverage options, in-seat service). When I got to the theatre, I was pleasantly surprised it was a one-on-one interview since I'd read so many glassdoor reviews talking about group interviews, so that was nice. The manager was super friendly and did a great job explaining the positions available and where I would start off. He also asked what I was comfortable with in terms of trajectory, and asked me a bunch of questions. I, then, got the opportunity to ask him questions which I think every interviewee should take advantage of since I think it shows sincere interest in the job. So I asked what challenges he saw to the position, what he thought made the difference between a good employee and a memorable employee, and if he had any hesitations about my qualifications. At the end of the interview, he offered me a job on the spot which was great! He didn't even have a hiring package to give me because he wasn't expecting to do that. So I think the best advice I can give so you are an interview success story like me is to do your research and prepare! Prepare, prepare, prepare! Answer questions honestly and really pay attention to what the interviewer is saying. Eye-contact, verbal signs you're understanding, nodding, etc. Be sincere and use your conversational strengths (ie, humour) and just smile and laugh (when it's appropriate)! Cineplex is looking for people with good attitudes so if you can show them that while also showing your potential, you'll do well! GOOD LUCK!
