      Entrevista

This was an extremely odd organization. The HR woman was surly and rude, which does not bode well. There was also a waiver she wanted me to sign before the formal interview could commence. I read it and saw that it gave permission for a reference and background check. When I questioned whether it would give them permission to call my existing employer to check my reference (something I would not have wanted them to do unless they were going to make me an offer), she got visibly angry and actually snapped at me. She said, "I don't care what you think or what you're worried about, I just need you to sign it." Wow. Then, my potential supervisor entered the interview room. While he was cordial, I have to admit that the HR person had already convinced me to turn down the job. The discussion that ensued informed me that the position was vacant because the previous employee had been fired. The PR problems the organization was dealing with were massive and could have been turned around. However, the culture was dysfunctional-- and no amount of spin is going to fix that. I excused myself from the interview after about 30 minutes, saying that the position would not be a good fit for me. My potential supervisor seemed genuinely perplexed when I cut the meeting short. When I shook the HR woman's hand and thanked her for her time, she frowned, averted her eyes and did not speak. Great social skills for someone who is the face of the organization! Overall... a very strange and unprofessional place.
