I was invited to a final stage virtual assessment day for a Graduate Business Development Consultant role, run by Celsius Recruitment on behalf of their client, Elis. The session was led by DAVID SHIELDS, who is the CEO of Celsius.
The assessment began with an unusual “quick-fire” Q&A. During this, David made several inappropriate remarks about candidates’ physical appearances, which immediately felt unprofessional and set the wrong tone. We were then rushed through brief self-introductions, where I was cut off mid-sentence without reason.
Just before the main group task began, I was suddenly removed from the Zoom meeting without explanation. A message popped up saying “The host has removed you from the meeting.” Minutes later, I received a text saying I wouldn’t be progressing no feedback, no follow-up, nothing.
What stood out most was the sheer lack of professionalism and basic courtesy. After looking into Celsius further, I found multiple reviews describing almost identical experiences, same DAVID SHIELDS, same abrupt treatment, same absence of transparency. This clearly isn’t a one off.
