El proceso duró 1 día. Acudí a una entrevista en CarMax (Austin, TX) en jun 2011
Entrevista
I applied for a business office associate position at the location closest to me. Some weeks later, another location across the city called me and invited me to apply there, but for a sales associate position. I expressed hesitance at this, not really thinking I was qualified or cut out to be a car salesman. She assured me by retail background qualified me, and wanted to interview me. I applied to that location online, and heard from them in a couple of days.
I went in for my interview and was pretty thrown by all the information they want access to. Entire social security reported wages for your life to present, complete background check, drivers history, credit check, check you against retail return abuse databases, and on and on.
You sign all that stuff then you start a computer pre-interview that repeatedly asks how many drugs you've done and how much stuff you've stolen. Repeatedly.
Then the first interview guy comes and reviews your answers with you. Then the second interview guy comes in and does what I recognize as an actual interview.
I complete that and am promised an answer, by the weekend, and that I would not be left hanging without a call.
They never call me and almost two weeks later I get a rejection letter from them.

tell me two things about this car that you would use as selling points.
Short phone screen, then was asked to the location for an in person interview. Asked 8-10 behavioral interview questions and then was asked to show the managers a car like they were the customer.

Tell me about a time you were able to help someone make an informed decision
Website provides personality test/profile. After you complete that you are invited to a phone interview with a recruiter. They will schedule an interview to the site. Interview with Manager and then GM, visit the lot and showcase professionalism and sales abilities
After doing a lengthy personality assessment online, I did a phone interview. The phone interview went well and I was invited for an in-person interview.
At the in-person interview, I had an extensive conversation with the sales manager, David. I thought it went really well. After that, I met with two other salespeople and we did a role-playing session where I greeted one of them and gave him an overview of a car on the lot.
After that, they said I'd get an answer in the next few days. I never did. While it's obvious that I didn't get the role, Carmax lacked the professionalism to at least send me an email letting me know that I had not made the cut.
Due to this experience, I will not be shopping Carmax the next time I need a new vehicle.
