I applied via the company website. I had a very brief call with HR and then was sent a task to complete. The task was to create a marketing plan for the business. Despite the task saying it should take no longer than 4 hours, there is no way a full marketing plan can be completed in that time period. I enquired about how the task would be presented, however the company only wanted it sent over. It seemed very abnormal to me that a task should be completed without actually ever meeting anyone in the marketing team. I sent over my task but was told my proposal wasn't granular enough. Perhaps granularity could have been covered if I was able to actually speak to a member of the team. Overall, a pretty negative experience, but a great way for Butternut Box to gather lots of free marketing ideas with very little work their side.
