      Entrevista

Over a month passed after applying before a recruiter tried calling me in the middle of a work day with no warning to do a screening. They used a lot of typical buzzwords and phrases, talking about how BuildOps is like a startup and how they like to move fast and get things done, though they used a word instead of things that Glassdoor won't let me post because it is considered inappropriate. Even though the role I applied to was listed as remote they told me that I was near a company office so I'd have to go in three days a week. The listed pay range was on the lower end of the market but the recruiter pushed me to keep interviewing because they could be flexible in pay but didn't elaborate further beyond a mention of equity. They also told me that the company wastes no time in hiring and that I should be through the whole process in less than two weeks. A few days after the screening the recruiter calls me out of the blue again wanting to schedule a hiring manager round. This manager screening went well enough but it was weird that the manager only asked me two general questions the whole time and spent the remainder talking about how they like to do things. I also learned in this round that the hiring manager and all of the people that would be reporting to the job I was interviewing for were located in separate states or countries. A few days after this call the recruiter randomly calls me again to talk about the rest of the process. At this point I was already two weeks in so based on the recruiter's previous comments about how BuildOps hires quickly I thought I'd have one more round and be done. Instead I found out that I had four more one hour sessions left. I asked in this brief call too about why I needed to be hybrid if the role was listed as remote and no one that I'd be working with would be in the office. The recruiter said some lines about networking and the occasional free lunch. Round three was a technical screening. It seemed like the person running the call didn't know what they were doing and the problem I was asked to solve had little bearing on the job itself but otherwise it wasn't particularly difficult. By round four I already had an offer from another company that did most fast so I messaged the recruiter to let them know and see if we could find a way to wrap things up. Their suggestion was that I should delay accepting the offer in my hand for a week, take a few days off from my job, and reschedule my remaining three rounds to accommodate BuildOps. When I told them that wasn't going to work they stopped responding and ghosted me.
