The scheduling of the interview was efficient as I only had a wait a few days before contacting of an interview and having. However, I wouldn’t say my experience was exactly negative but worse than neutral. Basically I feel like the job posting could’ve been more clear in what they were looking for. In the posting on their website, they made it seem like they were looking for a creative marketer with ties to community outreach. However, during the interview they kept asking questions about budgeting and finance, things not listed on the job post. Had I had known that’s the direction they wanted, I wouldn’t have applied as I’m more creative than finance-based in my experience. It was also weird that I was even called for an interview as I don’t really have finance or budgeting in my resume anyway. When I asked about what they wanted in the role and their goals, I couldn’t get a clear picture. “We want to make more money” isn’t a clear goal. Of course we all want to make more money, but how *exactly* do we get there? This is a new role for them, so I understand if they’re a little unsure of where to start, but it also felt like it would be a mess getting started. I’m unsure if I would’ve even accepted an in person interview if offered because of that. The panel also consisted of two women and one man but the whole time only the man spoke (do what you will of that as you may).
