After I submitted my application, I received an email inviting me to participate in a one-way interview via SparksHire, which was a dehumanizing experience and a major red flag.
To begin with, the job application user interface looked like it was from the 1990s, and it took a lot of time to input all my information and explain why I left my previous jobs. The questions were invasive and unnecessary.
Moreover, the company did not even bother to set up a phone call for the interview, which showed a lack of basic human decency. Instead, they sent me a link to SparksHire, where I had a limited time to record myself answering their questions, with no option to redo my answers. The questions were redundant and seemed a bit shady, as they wanted me to repeat information already provided in my resume, such as reasons for leaving previous jobs. Although the job posting was for a full-time position, the last question revealed that they were only looking for someone on a temporary basis. It was disheartening to record myself and never meet a single person during the entire interview process.
If the application process and one-way interview were so unbearable, I can only imagine what it would be like if I were hired. The SparkHire video interview and overall application process have left me feeling disappointed and disrespected.
