Entrevista
Applied online through their website after finding the posting elsewhere. The position was in their New York office but most of the HR people I talked with were in San Francisco. Did the same writing test and phone interview that other people have talked about. Then did Skype interview (I am out of state) with 1 support person in New York office (he said there was supposed to be someone else but she wasn't there that day). He only had a few questions ready and it was much shorter than I thought it would be/it was scheduled for, but other than that I actually felt like it went really well. My recruiter, Beth, called me afterwards and put me on the spot, asking me a few more questions and asking me what I enjoyed learning about in the interview. I was a little flustered (my phone never rings!) but thought I handled it okay. She told me she'd be in touch at the beginning of the following week, and ended up calling me at the end of the week telling me they went with another candidate. She was super nice about it. Like someone else has said, I thought they were looking to hire more than one person but apparently it was just one. Also like other people have said, I talked with so many different people I can hardly remember how many, but it was probably like 6.

What did you most enjoy learning about Square in your interview?
The entire interview process took about 3 weeks. First there was a writing sample they ask for which is very easy. The next step was a phone mock call. I was pretty nervous because I wasn’t sure how the role playing would go but the rep was super friendly and fed me the info before hand & I just navigated through the call showing my customer service skills. It wasn’t really about getting the info right but more so how can u resolve an issue effectively. The last step was in on site interview that lasted about an hour. I met w/ 2 hiring “team leads” for 30min each. The first hiring manager was pretty laid back & did ask basic interview questions but it was more conversational. The 2nd was a little more direct (reading through a list of questions) and his questions were longer/more complex. Overall my experience was great everyone was superb friendly & the office is so awesome!

I quickly received a response to my application and followed up with a simple writing sample. I had a phone interview a couple of days later that included a mock phone call, followed by an in person interview about a week later. The in person interview was at the same time as several other interviews. I interviewed with two managers that asked standard interview questions. I thought it went well with the first manager but couldn't get a read from the second. I received a rejection email about a week after the interview but was not given any feedback.
Thanks for taking the time to apply and interview! Hopefully, you'll give us another try in the future. Thanks! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to glassdoor@squareup.com.
