I had several initial phone interviews with management before being asked to provide a writing sample based on their prompt. They obviously liked my work product because they immediately called asking for my salary requirements. I told them I was open to offers and they refused to accept that. I gave my salary expectations based on my experience and the position requirements ($90k) and they said the best they could do was $50k. There’s a reason this position perpetually open. They aren’t willing to pay fair market prices for their employees. I only wish they would have been forthright so I wouldn’t have wasted my time writing their sample.
