      Entrevista

There isn't much I can offer that hasn't been talked about in previous reviews. The review from March 26th entitled "Outside Sales at Bazaarvoice" pretty much sums up my thoughts. I think that Bazaarvoice has some interesting products, but what they are doing is quickly becoming a commodity. They are out looking for enterprise sales professionals to sell to marketing. The job seems very entry level and based on the quotas that were discussed, it seems like a definite step backwards for most of the people they're targeting and hiring. It seems that they really want a cheerleader type for the Sales Director role, which is not me. I've been in Enterprise sales for over a decade with an amazingly successful track record. I attribute that to building relationships of depth and mutual respect. The cheesy wink and smile approach would never work for me, but through every step of the process, I felt like that was being asked for. I did the sales "test" and put plenty of time into it, given the demands of my current job and life. However, through all my research I just couldn't get that passionate about what they're doing, although interesting. I continued the process more for the challenge than the desire to actually get hired, and I believe the showed and led to me ultimately not getting an offer. On the day of my "test" (i.e. mock sales presentation), there was a lot of confusion and it seemed like they were scrambling around to find people to attend. Several people were very disengaged from the get-go and there was a lot of emailing, etc that took place during my presentation. It seems like the massive amount of interviews may be taking it's toll on those who have to constantly attend. Like previous reviewers, the OTE was far lower than I've made in a long time and not something I would have entertained had I made it to the offer negotiation stage. While not moving forward was admittedly a blow to my ego, I quickly realized that it would not have been a good fit. I do think that BV misses out on a lot of good candidates based on their one-way recruiting process. Never through the process was I sold to in any way. I'm used to the interview process being a two-way discovery process and at BV it definitely is not. I don't know if I would go quite as far as the previous poster and say it is a cult, but I did have to laugh when I read it, as it definitely could easily be construed that way. I'm glad I went through the process, overall I would say it was too much time spent on my side for very little result. While I did appreciate the quick/immediate feedback along each step of the process, I would have hoped for a little more constructive criticism through the sales presentation phase.

They will waste a lot of your time with a very lengthy interview and pitch process. You'll video chat with multiple people, then they ask you to do an in-depth presentation that will take you days to prepare for.

They expect you to do a lot of work and know their platform during the process.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and I am sorry it was an overall negative experience for you. I can't deny that the presentation at the final stage does indeed require some prep and homework. On the whole we do tend to find that candidates enjoy this part of the process as the deep dive does allow them to better understand some of the challenges we are trying to solve for our clients combined with learning more on the space in which we are working. We do also offer help in the prep either with the Talent Team or with some of the people you've met. I realise these points are probably no consolation to you right now but know that we do hugely value all of the time candidates put into a process so please be reassured on that front.

      - Call with internal headhunter - face to face interview with head of team - spent a further 3 hours with a few different members of staff, one at a time - not an interview per say but they're looking to see if you're a cultural fit - interview with VP department - 45 minute role play pitching the Bazaarvoice suite to senior staff members at Bazaarvoice It's a straight forward interview process, but the role play is tough. If you make it to the role play stage, they just need to see you in action and the job is there for you to lose. If you show that you're coachable , want to learn and want the job, you will get it. Advice for any role you're going for - learn as much as you can about Bazaarvoice. Be yourself. Ask as many questions as you can, incuding current staff members not involved in your interview process.

Applied online and first spoke to a recruiter, then had a call with the regional VP, followed by two separate "get to know you" meetings with employees outside the office. Was invited and flown down to Sydney for a fourth and final presentation - was given adequate time to prepare in an open format, with three people present and one person on the phone.

When you are in the role play, you have chosen and prepared a company to sell to. They then use a barrage of objections and difficult situations against you as you to try and sell. It is very difficult to find a gap, particularly as they have worked with the company in the past and already have explored the answers, while you are working with a grasp of what you have gleaned off the BV website, and your chosen company's website.
