Met with the recruiter, then the hiring manager, followed by an in-person interview with the executive team. The entire process was quick, smooth, and straightforward, moving much faster than expected.

Everything you probably heard about Backcountry.com is true. Even more-so with recruiiting and interviewing. There is clearly no efficient process of communication; if there is, there is some sort of breakdown somewhere. One person tells you one thing and another tells you something else...the third doesn't even know the position he/she is interviewing you for. And after no contact for six weeks you get an insulting email saying that you're not qualified (usually not the case) or someone else is MORE qualified (hopefully the case).

Applied online and heard back to schedule an interview 2 weeks later. The recruiter literally sounded like she was reading an "about Us" script without taking a breathe. Seemed very hipster and talked about how she likes to work alone. She did most of the talking. I did appreciate the specific detail in the company's goals and vision for the next several years. She asked pretty vague questions, like "What experience do you have in compensation, training, etc." Pretty standard. After numerous follow ups, after the deadline she gave for next steps, I never heard back.
