I was first contacted for a phone interview--a screen with an HR person. I then was invited in for an in-person interview with the out-going supervisor of the position and the person who held the position and would be the new supervisor. I was then invited for a third interview with other staff and youth in the program and this was all scheduled for the day after the return from my one-week vacation. I was notified the day of this third interview by email that someone else completed the process while I was gone and they hired that person. The out-going supervisor was very serious and not very encouraging. The new supervisor seemed more supportive. The culture of the organization from what I gathered in the interview is that everyone is over-worked and they largely work in reactive mode. My impression was that perhaps they are growing faster than they can really handle well.

The interview process was tedious. Four rounds of interview with a task assessment. I understand the need for such. long process because they want to be absolutely sure on who will join the team, but it would definitely be helpful for the candidate to know from the beginning what is expected in the interview process. Besides that, communication was great on all levels.

Entrevista
I was an external candidate. The site I was applying for seemed like it was going through extensive staffing changes and/or dealing with recent turnovers. I went through a total of 4 interviews. Since I was not based in Northern California, they were very accommodating in conducting interviews via Skype. I met with the Director of Talent/Human Capital, Regional Director, & Site Director (all via Skype & separate interviews). I then had a slew of interviews in-person which included 3 panel interviews with program site staff (student panel, managers & coordinators) and then an observation since students were in session. The interview process also included a homework assignment.
Overall the process was long and strung out. Understandably, they are looking for the right person who can deal with the pressures of the job. It took them a very long time afterwards (2-3 weeks) to make a hiring decision.
