      Entrevista

It was a fairly drawn out process when it didn't need to be. I was contacted via an outside recruiter and then had a phone interview with the inside recruiter. We spoke about the job and then I was schedule for another phone interview with the would be manager of the department. We hit it off and talked about the role extensively. No technical questions were really asked and it was most of a conversational interview. He liked me a lot and wanted to move fairly quick. Since, I was an out of state candidate they wanted me to fly up early next week. I agreed and they arranged all the details. When you go to the onsite you are expected to present a powerpoint and dress professionally. I prepared more for this job then I ever have for any other. I made a lengthy powerpoint and even provided sketches of outlines on how I would setup a trade booth. Honestly this out of my realm as, I am a technical person and don't work in marketing but, I took it very seriously and they were quite impressed. I met with a total of 3 people and the conversation was purely focuses on culture fit. I got along with everyone and they all seemed nice. The hiring manager to me felt like he had already chosen me for the role that's the impression I got after meeting with him. I then had to present to all these people along with the HR person. I presented my powerpoint and provided my sketches everyone seemed thoroughly impressed. I honestly was impressed with myself my speech flowed the entire time and I had no hiccups in my presentation at all. I answered some questions they had and at the end of it I just felt like Tom Cruise in Jerry Maguire. I then met with the HR lady and from here is where the interview went sour. During the course of meeting with her in 1 hour during lunch she managed to tell me how awesome I did but, they still needed to interview more people no less then 5 times. I don't know if it was a nervous tick for her but, by the end of the hour I was honestly just annoyed hearing it for the 5th time. I dunno if it was a strong arm tatic or just a nervous tick of hers but, honestly it was no less then 5 times might have even been more. By the end of the interview I was then arranged back to the airport and flew home. I followed up with a thank you letter and was AGAIN told how awesome of an experience it was to have me interview and how great everyone thought I did and how impressed they were. I was told I would hear by the end of the next week. Two weeks went by and then I finally reached out and got the rejection email. Honestly the only thing I can think of is they either found someone cheaper and/or local. It was a very confusing process and it seemed like it came down to me and one other person. Oh well.

They focus a lot on culture fit even for technical roles.

Thank you for taking the time to post a review; we are glad you had an overall positive interview experience. Our process is time consuming for both the candidate and the interviewers; we are thorough and make a real effort to hire for skills and culture fit. We were fortunate to have interviewed a number of qualified candidates and made the selection that best suits our needs at this time. We wish you the best in your search and hope to hear from you again if there is another position that is a match for your skills.
