Thank you for your review. You provided excellent insight into the interview process with Austin Auction Gallery. The process consists of several steps that culminate in meeting with the owners of the 32 year old company. They actively participate in the business and take a personal interest in each prospective employee. The initial interview is conducted by the owner’s daughter, who has 23 years industry experience with 3 galleries in the major market. She is also a licensed auctioneer who has participated in over 1000 auctions and estate liquidations. The first portion of the interview contains detailed information about the nature of the business, the warehouse environment, work hours, deadlines, vacation time, auctions and requirements of each employee. Candidates are also given a tour of the gallery and work area. The second part of the interview is dedicated to the applicant and discussing their resume and relative experience. We rely heavily upon a prospective employee representing their listed skill set and experience honestly. In the case of a catalog associate, we are willing to train those who may not have auction experience. Applicants who are thought to be a good fit for the gallery are asked to take a brief test. This is not only to demonstrate their skill set, but also so that they can experience the auction warehouse environment firsthand. After the meeting with the owners, the chosen candidate is verbally given an employment offer. This offer is subsequently sent via email.
