The interview process itself was efficient and well organized, and the recruiter was communicative throughout. I appreciated receiving a direct rejection conversation rather than a generic email.
That said, the evaluation felt exceptionally strict. Despite having a background that aligned closely with the job description, I was not advanced past the first hiring manager interview due to a competency they were assessing. The decision appeared to be heavily weighted on one conversation and one interviewer’s perspective, with limited opportunity to provide clarification or additional context.
My impression is that the team is seeking near-perfect alignment rather than strong overall fit and growth potential. Candidates with highly specific experience in every evaluated area may fare best. While I respect the team’s standards, the process may feel unforgiving for candidates with transferable or adjacent strengths.

Describe how you influenced a decision on a recent project.
Recruiter interview, hiring manager interview, director interview. that's as far as I got and didn't get further. However, I believe the next steps were to do a product demonstrate with a VP. Then lastly, an interview with the founder.

The recruitment process at Aha! requires significant persistence. After my third application in four years again went unanswered, I eventually felt I had to reach out to the VP of Customer Success to receive any engagement (I was only contacted by a recruitment team member - not the VP - who actually blocked me on LinkedIn so I couldn't send any follow up messages!). While the subsequent correspondence was professional, the most likely underlying reason for the initial silence was disappointing.
I learned through internal channels that my application was flagged because, as a former Aha! customer (for 10 years), I had raised concerns during a week-long service outage. Despite the issue being on their end, my advocacy and eventual frustration for a resolution was most likely interpreted as being 'difficult.' It is concerning that a company would potentially disqualify a candidate for providing legitimate customer feedback in the past. I would have hoped this was seen as a positive. ** I know Aha! will deny this as the reason - but I am confident my source is correct as I did not disclose this previous support issue to them prior to me reaching out.
The fact that the same roles remain open in my region for extended periods suggests a low appetite for risk and a potential hiring bias. I was previously a huge fan of Aha! however this experience highlighted a culture of stagnation which doesn't feel like a healthy fit. I won't be applying again.
