A weird and frustrating experience. I spent about 2 hours preparing for my initial 20 minute intro chat by reading news about Adyen, studying the website, networking, etc. I really wanted to do a good job, so I put a lot of effort in. Then I had the call. I felt like it went very well and I made sure to mention various things about the company as well as my background and abilities. We had good rapport and I thought I'd go to the next round. Two days later, I received an email explaining why I wouldn't progress further. It was pretty weird to receive something so long after a single call that lasted about 22 minutes. And it never mentioned my skills, background or ability to the do the job. The entire gist was that I hadn't focused enough on why specifically I wanted to work for them. Then I received 4 identical OOO emails from the recruiter responding to things I'd sent the week before. In another review here, someone said "They're not interested in you as a candidate or how qualified you are for the role at all. To do well in the interview, you just need to spend the whole time talking about how great Adyen is" and I really think that's it. The only approach is to excessively praise them. Normally, I don't like to do that, but I guess it's the only way to move forward with these folks.
