Simple process. Had an initial recruiter screen, and then a virtual round with the hiring manager. I thought my conversation went well, the hiring manager and I seemed to have gotten along, and I thought I had asked engaging questions.
My cat decided to walk across the screen and interrupt during the interview, which flustered me, but the hiring manager reassured me and brushed it off as no big deal and we got back on track. I of course got rejected after, and when asked for feedback, I was told I came across as "unprepared and distracted". Nonsense. I took the time to do my research on the company, the hiring manager, and come up with good questions. If my cat was reason enough for them to completely dismiss my background and the entire THIRTY MINUTE conversation we had, then these are not serious people.
It really seemed like they were actively looking for reasons to not hire someone and that is indicative of how rotten and predictable the hiring process has become in the corporate world from top to bottom. I'm not impressed, and will certainly not recommend or pursue any opportunities with these people in the future.
