I received a phone call on Monday after I applied to the position over the weekend. I was told to come in, dress professionally, and bring my resume. They asked me if the location was a problem, and I said no. Although I knew I lived far (2 hour commute), I still need a job. The location of the building is not far from the PATH train, which is good. When I entered the building, the guard didn't even look at me. I walked straight to the elevator and arrived at the floor. If I didn't already know the suite number, I would have been lost because there was no indication on the floor of the business being in the building except in the lobby. It looked like I was in the projects. I heard the receptionist and hesitantly opened the door to enter the office. I was welcomed by a very nice and professional receptionist. The office looked very empty (a total of three people who worked there -- the receptionist and two interviewers), but clean; however it was as if this was not the actual location where the job would be held. The receptionist asked me to fill out an application and attach my resume. As I sat down, other interviewees entered the office and they were dressed business casual but not in a suit like I was. I handed the paperwork to the receptionist and I was called into an office shortly after. I wasn't in the building for more than 30 minutes. The interviewer appeared very nice at first and escorted me into the office. After he closed the door and asked me to sit, he asked me about my previous jobs, job interests, and then in not so many words he explained that I am overqualified for the position. I believe that they should have accessed that I was overqualified from my resume that I submitted to them online instead of calling me in. It was a waste of time and money to go there.
